MISOPHONIA

Posted on November 14, 2014

So today’s word is “misophonia”. I suffer from that as well as prosopagnosia. (see post on 13th Nov) Gotta love the internet! http://www.misophonia.com/symptoms-triggers/ Basically, it means that I am irritated by background noise.  Fortunately, my misophonia is mild although I think I’m getting worse. The sound I hate the most is the rustling of sweet

Triskaidekaphobia and Theatre Superstitions

Posted on November 13, 2014

Thirteen This is my thirteenth blog-post.  Today is 13th November so once this is published I shall be on track to succeed in this noblo thingummy. Thirteen is an interesting number.  My husband used to give a school assembly talk about fear of it – triskaidekaphobia.  That’s nearly as good a word to learn how

PROSOPAGNOSIA

Posted on November 13, 2014

Prosopagnosia – Face-Blind I used to think that I was stupid because I was obviously not like other people.  It never occurred to me that I had prosopagnosia because until two years’ ago I had never heard of this condition. This is the quiz from the London Faceblind group page via  http://www.faceblind.org.uk/ Q1: Do you

Car-Free

Posted on November 12, 2014

CAREFRE CAR-FREE According to statistics it costs an awful lot of money per year to keep a car in the way it would like to be accustomed.  There’s a thing called depreciation which means that as soon as you’ve paid for the wretched thing it is becomes less valuable unlike jewellery made from  precious metal

A Timey-Wimey Post

Posted on November 12, 2014

A Timey-Wimey Post I think the “timey-wimey” phrase is from Doctor Who, one of my favourite television shows (about which I like to complain that the stories don’t always make sense). Time fascinates me, probably because I am so very bad at managing it. My good time-sense is only connected to acting jobs.  For me,

A QUESTION THAT NEEDS NO ANSWER

Posted on November 11, 2014

Don’t answer! What is the point of decaffeinated coffee? Went to  lovely party with smashing company.  The food was varied to suit all tastes including vegans.  The champagne flowed and there was a variety of soft drinks including full-fat coke and healthy-ish orange juice.  Cream cakes, chocolate cakes and little tarts.  Thus the fayre was

Rage

Posted on November 9, 2014

RAGE There are lots of things that make me angry.  Most of them are to do with injustices.  I get very angry about a lot of right-wing political views, insensitivity and racism.  Whilst religious bigots make me seethe and morons cycling on the pavement (one recently caused me to have a nasty sprained ankle) leading

Sartre, Wine and Conversation

Posted on November 9, 2014

SARTRE, WINE AND CONVERSATION A shorter blog today, Saturday, yes it is still Saturday in my mind because I am not yet asleep, a short blog due to the fact that I’ve just returned from a marvellous dinner party which apparently involved the imbibing of three different genres of wine; more of that later –

Mightier Than The Sword

Posted on November 7, 2014

On Wednesday I had two lovely roles in an un-rehearsed reading of a pilot episode of a very funny sitcom.  The first role was of an Office Manager; a powerful character.  I got to be assertive, a bit sarcastic and bossy. The second role was voicing a pen possessed by the spirit of a (sexy)

What’s This About Men’s Bottoms?

Posted on November 7, 2014

I guess you are still wondering about the bit in my second blog about how I only became an actress because of men’s bottoms. I bet you’ve got the wrong end of the stick, so to speak. The thing is that for the whole of my pre-teen years I wanted to become a nurse.  A
